About the association

Founded 1974. Member-governed, staff-run, funded entirely by dues and the conference.

The association was founded in 1974 by eleven store owners who were tired of being the last to hear about regulatory changes. The model has not really changed: members set the agenda, a small staff carries it out.

Governance

A nine-member board is elected by the membership at the annual meeting. Board terms are three years, staggered. Committee service is open to any member in good standing.
